Next week the mighty Ohio River is expected to crest at 62 feet. In 1997, the Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church flooded when the river crested at 61 feet. This week, the session and congregation networked with their local high school to enlist members of the football team to help move wooden pews and musical instruments to higher ground for safe-keeping. Of course, in the event the river flows into the church building, there is an evacuation plan for people. However, pending weather and the Ohio River, the congregation may need assistance after the water recedes. Many hands will be needed with cleaning and drying out this historical church building.
