Bring Everyone Along: Joy and Anticipation

Shared Ministry for the Future
In August 2024, a groundbreaking partnership between Loveland Presbyterian Church (LPC) and Bethel Murdoch Presbyterian Church (BMPC) took shape—ushering in a shared ministry model that’s not just innovative but also a first-of-its-kind in the PCUSA denomination. By sharing a single pastor, Rev. Dr. Deb Uchtman, both congregations are embracing a bold approach to sustainability, financial health, and growth.
Why Shared Ministry?
In today’s changing landscape, churches across the country are exploring creative ways to maintain their mission and ministries. LPC and BMPC are stepping up by sharing pastoral leadership to enhance their collective resources while keeping the spiritual needs of their communities at the heart of their mission. This visionary partnership is designed not only to save financial resources but also to create a more resilient future for both congregations.
A Pioneering Effort in the PCUSA
This new model of shared ministry is a first for the PCUSA—and it’s already catching the attention of denominational leaders. The Board of Pensions has recognized the potential of this innovative approach, offering a substantial incentive to churches that pursue this model. In July 2024, the Board announced a special subsidy for congregations entering into shared ministry agreements.
The Board of Pensions Subsidy
Through this new initiative, each shared ministry receives a generous subsidy of $10,000 per year, for three years. The funds are designed to offset the pastor’s Board of Pensions dues, with each church receiving $5,000 annually. This financial support helps both churches while ensuring that the pastoral care of both communities continues uninterrupted.
In exchange for the subsidy, LPC and BMPC are required to provide an annual update, reflecting on the health, spiritual vitality, and morale of their congregations. This collaborative reflection ensures that both churches continue to thrive in their shared ministry journey.

As the months pass, it has been incredibly uplifting to witness the growing sense of community, shared mission, and divine guidance that has emerged from this partnership. With the Board of Pensions subsidy in hand, Bethel Murdoch and Loveland are not just surviving; they are flourishing—coming together as one vibrant, evolving faith family.
Both churches are excited to see how God’s hand is moving in this new season, and the energy around this shared ministry is palpable. Together, LPC and BMPC are embracing a new future—one where they move forward united in spirit, purpose, and faith.
