Loving God,  
Grant us grace   
To consent again   
And again and again  
To Your Holy call as church  
Binding us to each other  
For Your grand motion  
Of building beloved community  
Here and throughout creation.  

Invest us with Your Spirit  
That no cost of discipleship  
May be greater than the joy  
Jesus promised to disciples   
In every age and time.  

Form our hearts for self-giving service  
Emptying us of ego’s easy distraction  
Fostering instead a holy space  
For others to discover their gifts  
Watered by Your marvelous mercy.

May Your grace shape our words  
And empower our actions  
That our lives may testify   
Ever more clearly Your Good News  
Often overrun by a world  
Addicted to negativity and division  
Dispiritedness and despair.

At the same time,   
Let us be honest with You  
About any quick accommodation  
To evil’s entropy that drains  
Our best intentions and aspirations  
In easy turns of devilish distraction.

Renew in us Your baptismal blessing  
With a refreshed and refreshing  
Outpouring of Your Holy Spirit  
Reminding us of our beloved identity  
And that of everyone in creation.

Let every meal we eat   
Become a sign of grace  
Reminding us of Your Holy motion  
Revealed by Christ so long ago  
Taken, blessed, broken, and given  
For the good of this world  
You so dearly love.

By this and more than we can name  
Join us to the passionate love   
You revealed in Christ Jesus  
That his compassion may rise  
In our lives at every turn of today.

And let us see bit by bit  
Glimpses of Your victorious love  
Bearing it’s gentle strong power  
For the mending of the world.
Yes, love us into this of You  
And Your grand hope  Here…now…always.
