Temporary Protected Status has been removed for many Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. One ramification of losing this protected status is that some Haitian residents of Springfield are losing work permits. This increases both food and housing insecurity, and it limits access to other basic needs. We would like to support those extending human dignity to our neighbors.

Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church is responding to a call for donations for the Haitian Community Support Center in Springfield, Ohio, by setting up a collection area by the doors to the parking lot entrance of the church. Join us in collecting non-perishable food, diapers and toiletries. Please donate by July 11 (we may extend this date as needed). Donations can be made Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00-2:00 at the front entrance of the church, or on Sunday mornings.

In addition to praying for Haitian immigrants and faith communities in Springfield, please consider advocating legislators to extend protected status. Here is an advocacy toolkit for faith communities.
